I must say the last few days have left a lot to be desired. It all started Thursday night when Alexia woke up at 10:30 screaming her poor little head off. This was the first time in a very long time that I had to go and get her. After finally getting her calmed down we sat and rocked. This I must say was something I have missed. Looking at her spread out on my lap brought me back to the days when she was so little she fit perfectly in my arms. Now I was looking at this gown up little person whose legs were hanging off my lap and arms were wrapping around me. After having my emotional little moment I wondered why it seems like we have regressed back to the early days of having to be held all the time and waking up screaming and whining all the time. So after rocking her back to sleep I attempted to lay her back in the crib, oh no she wasn't having that, just like the old days so back to rocking we went. Attempt 2=fail. Attempt 3=fail so I sat by her crib and talked with her. She eventually settled down but just sat there. This went on for another 30 minutes until I shifted my position and she freaked. I then took her out of the crib and changed her diaper and she decided it was time for some Disney junior. We watched one show and then went on with our normal going to bed routine which worked because she went into the crib with no crying and fell asleep. So since it was after 12:30 by the time she finally went back to sleep I thought she might sleep in a little, boy was I wrong! She was up at 6am screaming at the top of her lungs, just how I wanted to start my day. My poor little girl is cutting her first molar and it is really messing with her! I just don't know how to help her besides the cuddles, teething tabs, and Tylenol. Our newest issue is riding in the car seat! Man does she loathe that car seat. I have even turned her around so she is facing forward thinking that the change of scenery may help her. Nope it is now a struggle to get her strapped in :( and the crying that follows is not pleasant. It seems that these days we are having a little more bad moments then good. I wouldn't change it for anything! It's those moments where she will just come up to me and give me a hug while patting my back followed by the sweetest little Lexi kiss that makes my heart melt! She is just really turning into her own little person but still having such a hard time expressing her needs without getting incredibly frustrated! And let me say she isn't the only one who is frustrated!

Can a child survive off ketchup and ranch?!
Lately, meal times have not been a fun experience. I'm trying so hard to make sure that Lexi has a balanced diet and nothing is working. Frustrated doesn't even begin to explain it. I believe I may have blogged about this in the past but no progress has been made. At the moment it seems like she lives off of ketchup, ranch, Mac and cheese, and hotdogs. How is it that she knows a vegetable even if I blend it up. For instance for dinner tonight I blended peas up in her sauce and she wouldn't even look at it so I put a little on her lips and she proceeded to fly off the handle screaming at me like I had just tried to feed her bleach. Spitting everywhere and yelling at me. After she calmed down I gave her the same thing, sans peas, and she is loving it! WHY, arg. This no vegetable eating is, I think, the root of her constipation issue. She is now on a daily low dose of miralax to help her with her little pebble poops.
On a brighter note she has learned a few new words! No! Is one of my favorites, like every toddler she says it to just about everything and rarely gets the meaning right but it is just so stinking cute the many different ways she says it! She also said her first name recently and guess who the lucky person was? Auntie Stacey! Lexi now will sometimes call her Tay-see and it is so darn cute! She is getting more words and sounds everyday.

Getting back to normal
It was like she was never gone. Lexi picked right back up loving her time with Jessica, Natalie, and Lilly! I was a little nervous she would be back to square one like she was with her auntie Stacey when we got home. Poor Stacey, wants Lexi to play with her so bad but Lexi is once again giving her the old cry and run to mommy. Grandma is coming on Saturday so I hope things will go well and she will let her love on her! It may help that I might note around. Yes, that is right I am taking some mommy time to go and see step up 4 with Angie and Stacey on Saturday! I am counting down the days! I have even been eagerly awaiting the arrival of my own dental cleaning tomorrow with my favorite hygienist :) it feels like ages since I have had some adult girl time.
Now let's talk about tantrums! All my fellow mommies out there- any advise?!?! Lexi has entered the tantrum stage. She throws herself in the ground and just start crying and then she gets herself so worked up she can't calm herself down. I've tried ignoring, distracting, cuddling. I know we are both equally as frustrated with the situation! Any words of wisdom is welcome!! Today she just stood still and cried until she started coughing and gagging. She won't move and only wants picked up, how do I help her to understand that she can't act like that without rewarding what she wants but getting her to calm down before she makes herself sick? Oh boy, fun times ahead I can tell.
On a brighter note.....she amazes me everyday with all the new things she does and says. She is too smart for her own good and I think we are going to be in big trouble in the future :) she had changed my life in so many ways and I couldn't imagine life without her and her crazy personality!

Been too long since I last blogged!
Hello all! I realize I am doing a less then stellar job at keeping my lovely blog updated (for those of my family and friends that are actually interested!) a lot has happened in the Izzo household since I was last on here.
1) I went back to work in may. I was only looking for a day or two a week but found an office I like and am working 3.5 days a week. The dr and all the staff are so nice and despite the commute I thoroughly enjoying going to work! With that being said we found an amazing sitter for Lexi! Jessica has been wonderful since the start and honestly I don't think I would be able to go to work and not worry about Lexi if we would have went with anyone else. The first week was a little rough but now when I go to pick her up I get a wave and she continues about her business! Jessica has twin girls of her own and they are just the cutest things! I think that they are helping Lexi come out of her shell. She is talking more and more-not necessarily with real words but we are making headway!
2) After receiving sad news about my mother in law passing away a couple weeks ago we packed up and headed to New York. Although the circumstances that brought us there were not good it was great to see Lew's family. A lot of his family Lexi and I haven't had the pleasure of even meeting yet. Let me take you through our whirl-wind trip to New York!
We took the red eye.....which I will never ever do again with a toddler. Lexi was already tired and once we got to the airport there was just too much going on for her to go to sleep. Once we finally got on the plane all hell broke lose. Lexi managed to scream the first hour and a half of the 3.5 hour flight. When I say scream I mean scream at the top of her lungs until all she could do was finally pass out. I was horrified and exhausted and thank god she slept most of the rest of the flight. Then we lay overed in Detroit and had a pleasant little flight to Buffalo. In buffalo we rented a car and drove to my sister in laws house in Syracuse. Later that day was Lew's moms wake and service. It was beautiful and so moving to see all the people that came out to support her and her family. We saw a lot of New York and I mean a lot. Shelly was brave enough to travel with us to NYC! Let me tell you it was over whelming! We arrived in penn station at rush hour which wasn't ideal! We walked all over. Central park was amazing! Lexi managed to have another complete meltdown at the empire state building. The next day we took the ferry and got to see the statue of liberty and the two new towers that are going up around ground zero! It was amazing to see it all first hand and not in a movie. We got back to Syracuse and then headed to lake placid. This was by far my favorite part of the trip. Lake placid was beyond gorgeous, words can't even explain. Our time in New York was way too short. Our last stop was a very quick trip to Niagra falls. We need to get passports so we can visit the Canadian side next time. Luckily our flights home went quietly for the most part. It was an exhausting trip and I was disappointed that Lexi played the shy card and wouldn't let her family love on her. I know this can be typical toddler behavior and we totally uprooted her from her routine but I was still frustrated. She was glued to me the whole trip, it made it hard.
Major thanks go out to Shelly and Jim who opened up their home to us and included us in all their adventures. You guys made our trip so wonderful and we miss you so much all ready. S much more happened on the trip but I fear I am getting blogged out! I will try and add pictures this weekend!
All in all things are going well with the Izzo's 3!

blog catch-up
My blogging skills have been less then acceptable as of late. Things have been very busy in the Izzo house. Here goes a quick update.
1. Alexia has finally gotten her first tooth!!!!! March 1st, 2011 her very first tooth started poking through! as many know the first teeth your baby usually gets is her bottom two front teeth. Well alexia decided that she was going to get an upper canine tooth first. She looks so adorable with her one little snaggle tooth smile. I was even able to get a picture of her with just the snaggle tooth and everytime I look at it I can't help but smile. She is already starting to cut her canine on the other side and hopefully only more will follow. My little vampire baby.
2. I have started a huge painting project at my house. Lately I found myself looking around my living room and kitchen and wondering why in the world did I think that browns everywhere was ok?!?! So far I have made incredible progress and will finish way before I thought I would have. I am painting my cabinets white and then the walls will be next. I am almost done with all the cabinets, believe it or not. I only have 5 sets to go!!!! and that is not bad if you have seen my kitchen and know how many cupboards are in it! Next will be the walls which I have decided on turning a pale green and yellow. I am so excited and can't wait to see the final project. It is going to really brighten up our house.
3. Since Lexi started teething we have some pretty long and loud days. She is still sleeping through the night and almost always takes at least one nap a day so that is good. But man does that girl let you know when things are not how she wants them. We spend a lot of time at the park across the street, not sure how much longer that will last once the weather starts to get hotter.
4. She is really talking (babbling) a lot more! It is so fun to just sit and listen to her make noises, the inside voice noises that is. She really likes to see what she can do with her voice, and trust me she can do a lot!
5. The job hunt is still on and so far going no where.
6. I have decided to go back to school and get my masters in public health. mine as well since I am not working, right.
Picture time.....

Loving life
So it has been a little bit since I have blogged. Lets catch up.
1. I had a saturday job for a day ;) lets just say it is an extremely long and rather annoying story so we will just leave it there. I must say though that for a doctor who talked a lot about karma during our interview, you sure will get what's coming to you. Also I'm taken aback by how many doctors are out there that just want to do SRP on anyone that has a 4mm pocket or a single spot of bleeding. I mean really, that would mean that even I would need SRP every single time I have to go in and have my teeth clean. UMMM NO!! Last but not least, if you intend on doing srp on every single patient you might want to provide your hygienist with a cavitron or tips that actually work and more then just 2! working tips on every instrument would be nice too. Just saying.
2. We finally got rid of the corolla and got lew into a nice new car and even ended up trading in my car that we were paying an incredibly high interest rate on. I must say I am in love with my new car, I could live in it. I got a 2008 cadillac srx and it is absolutely the best car I have ever driven! Lew is now driving a 2010 toyota camry. I am so thrilled that we were able to both get cars we liked and cars that are safe enough for Alexia to ride in. We have already gotten another carseat so that we can take which ever car we feel like depending on what we are doing!
3. Thursday I had a working interview at an office in Gold Canyon which is only about a 10 minute drive from my house. I loved it. The office was new and had all the equipment you would need for any type of cleaning. I was also pleasantly surprised by how incredibly nice and personable the doctor was and by her viewing of SRP. They are still deciding and I hope to hear from them soon, so everyone keep your fingers crossed for me.
4. Alexia still has NO teeth.
5. It amazes me how much my daughter does now. She is such a wonderful person I can't even imagine my life without her. She is babbling so much more and becoming a little more independent.
6. Meal time is still a little bit of a struggle but we are making progress. She still prefers a limited variety of food, but luckily they are healthy. Blueberries are her favorite food right now, she could eat them all day long.
7. I saddens me to say that Lexi puts herself to sleep now. I will go in and start to rock her and all she does is fidget around, so I lay her in her crib and she quietly puts herself to sleep. Sometimes she lays in there for a while and then will fall asleep and others she is out like a light. Where did that little darling go that could only be put into her crib in a very deep sleep!?!?

So much to celebrate!
This weekend was full of fun and celebration. On Saturday I went into my job for a couple of hours to meet their hygienist and kinda get a feel for how they do things in their office. I am so excited to start working Saturday, it has been too long and I actually really miss doing hygiene. This office is so perfect. The doctor is so wonderful and a complete 180 from the previous places I have worked. This past week I was a part of an elaborate scheme to help keep a proposal surprise a secret from a great great friend! While I hated keeping the secret from her I knew she would appreciate it so much more once it happened and didn't even see it coming. Sonny set up such a romantic wonderful proposal for Kim and I envy what they have together. He went all out and I was dying all week for it to be Saturday evening and everything to go down. It finally happened and I got a call right after from an absolutely blown away Kim. Then she was brought to her second surprise of the night which was a little get together to celebrate the big news with all of her friends and family. Even though we couldn't find a babysitter I am so glad that we got to bring Lexi and see the happy couple after it all went down. I couldn't be more happier for Kim and Sonny and I am so glad that he trusted me in helping with this special day! Yesterday I spent the evening at a tattoo parlor getting my valentines day present! Alexia's infant footprint and name on my foot. The pain was definitely worth it and I look at it and just smile. Special thanks to Angie for keeping me company and then letting me relax with a glass of wine at her place before I went home. Today we had a very special visitor come and play with us. The future Mrs. Chapman came over with a pink heart bucket of gifts for Lexi and even a little something for me. I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful friend in my life who loves my daughter so much!! I can't wait to start wedding planning with you Kim!!! This new week begins my search for a sitter. It is so hard for me to find someone because my schedule is not set in stone and they are just going to try and give me days they can fill. I have 3 meetings set up for tues, wed, and thursday and I am hoping that someone will stand out to me and want to work with the situation I am in right now. Any advise any of my mom friends might have please send it my way!!!
move over boggs and koko I want in too |

Visit from Great Grandma
Yesterday, my grandma Adrian came down from Payson to spend some time with Alexia. It was so great being able to watch them interact. Lexi warmed up to her so fast it was a great couple days. We took her to the preserve to see the ducks and all the other cool birds. Then we spent the rest of the day playing in the livingroom. Lexi showed gg how to play with all her toys and before bedtime she even said a new word. Night night. So adorable. Grandma took us to dinner and Lexi was so good, even though it was way past her dinner time. Then mom had to go and ruin it all while trying to facetime grandma. As Lexi was reaching up to grab it from my hands it slipped right out and hit her right in the middle of the forehead! OMG worst mom alert!!!! It immediately bruised and of course is front and center to remind me every second of what happened. ARG. It is looking a little better this morning but is still staring right at me laughing in my face
:( Today we are planning on hitting the zoo with Becky and Hayden after lunch time. Tomorrow I have yet another interview out in Tempe, so fingers crossed everyone. This job would be perfect. Saturdays and one week day. I just really want to get back into hygiene!!!!

where-o-where are Alexia's teeth!!!
Everyday I wake up and wonder.... will today be the day that my daughter will get her first tooth?!? Alas, today is NOT that day. We have been keeping very busy in the Izzo house. Many trips to the zoo with Becky and Hayden, those are our favorite days. Today we went to Arribas with Becky and Hayden and had a wonderful girls lunch. I just look at those 2 and wonder, where in the world has the time gone!! Lexi is going on 13 months and Hayden is quickly approaching the 1st birthday milestone. It feels like just last week we re-connected at Barnes and Noble with little infants!!
Lexi Update:
as mentioned before still no teeth.
she is fascinated with birds and it should come to no surprise that owl was her second word!
she now loves the slide and can't get enough of climbing up and sliding down!
she is a pacifier baby-it doesn't leave her sight
she had her last bottle Sunday and there has been no looking back!! it was way easier then i had initially thought it was going be.
the majority of the time she sleeps through the night be we do occasionally have a rough night.
I have a job interview tomorrow morning and I am so excited about it. I miss hygiene so much and can't wait to get back into it so here's to hoping it goes well!!! Fingers crossed everyone.

First Words
It seems like just yesterday my little one was just learning to roll over, but now she is learning to form words! Oh boy how time flies, you really don't realize how fast until you are watching your own daughter grow up before your eyes. Last night in the bath she was babbling away to me when all of a sudden I caught a familiar word come out of those sweet lips. DUCK!! she was saying duck and after I said it to her she kept repeating it back to me. Now many of you may think this is a very odd first word, but Alexia loves birds!!! She would rather run after the birds while at the park or zoo then pay attention to the bigger animals that are actually there. She loves feeding the ducks at the preserve her cheerios and waves to them as they quack at her. I can't wait to see what words start coming next!!! OH yes, and for those of you who are wondering, still NO TEETH :)

Sicky sicky
Well, I feel like a pretty lousy mother. Since last Friday I had totally thought that Lexi was just teething. She had some diarrhea and was extremely fussy and clingy so I just figured this was what it would be like. Nope I was wrong. Monday I called the nurse and she informed me that a stomach virus was going around and could last up to 2 weeks and just needed to run its course. Terrific, needless to say my week was spent with way too yucky poopie and a baby that just didn't know what was going on. I felt horrible that there was nothing I could really do for her. Yesterday she finally started acting more like herself. She is eating way more and having regular bm's (thank goodness). She was also a totally giggle ball yesterday it was so wonderful. Despite the diarrhea we actually spent a lot of time outdoors. I think it kept her mind off things, it defiantly was a much needed breath of fresh air for me. We went to the zoo two days, yes two, the preserve once, and out to Freestone park. Friday was so much fun at the park. We met up with our partners in crime, Becky and Hayden. We let the girls go wild in the baseball field and then walked around the lake. It was so much fun and the weather was absolutely perfect. Prior to going to the park I was checking on Lexi via the video monitor during her morning nap and all I could see was a little arm and hand. Of course I just have to go in there to see what she has covering up her little head. So I quietly sneak into her room and this is what I find.....
She has her little purple blankie completely over her head :) I could hear her breathing so I immediately relaxed and went about my business, but left her door open just in case I needed to calm my nerves again without waking her. She slept this way the rest of her nap, it just made me smile.
Lexi is wanting more and more to feed herself, sometimes she won't even eat her food if I try and feed it to her. This is what our meal time has become.....a big time mess, luckily she goes straight into the bathtub.
But look at that gummy smile, how can you not let her!!!
